Skydiving


Skydiving or parachuting is the sport of jumping out of an aircraft, free-falling for a period of time and then using a parachute to slow down and return to Earth. During the free-fall phase the body accelerates to terminal velocity. When the parachute is deployed the body decelerates until it is moving at a speed appropriate for a ground landing.

Skydiving is a recreational and military activity and a competitive sport. It requires coordination and a moderate degree of flexibility, particularly with regard to extension of the spine, hips and shoulders.
